Lights off?

CONSCIOUS THOUGHT: The power outage at Super Bowl XLVIII reminded me of a Spinning® class. It is not uncommon for me to see people spinning their wheels with the lights turned off. The big difference between the Super Bowl and a gym is when the lights went off in the Super Dome the athletes were intelligent enough NOT to play.

The truth is one of the latest studies shows

You Train Better Under Bright Lights – When there’s no light, as far as your body is concerned, it’s time to go back to bed and put in a few more hours of shut-eye. Test subject exposed to bright light outperformed test subjects exposed to dim light.

Group fitness can be a weapon of mass distraction. You can divert your attention everywhere but internally. Simply because you are on a stationary Spin®  bike doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt. Worse yet, with the lights off, the instructor who is leading the exercise doesn’t even see you. What is happening? An atmosphere is being set for you to zone out.

Think like a Pro. Turn the lights on and EXERCISE CONSCIOUSLY.
