A NEW Gallup poll says two-thirds of Americans aged 65 and older said they always feel good about their looks, compared to 61 percent of 18-34-year-olds. Middle-aged people 35-64-year-olds were the least likely to express satisfaction, with 54 percent feeling good about their appearance.
When I was 34, I was profiled for a magazine. During the phone interview I was asked what my future goal was. Without skipping a beat, I said,”To acknowledge and accept myself for who and what I am at every age.”
I have been a work in progress since my 20’s. With each year I accept myself and it requires work. I own my strengths, my weaknesses, the lines on my face, my gray hairs and I am a living example of healthy aging. No cheats. I work smart. Play hard.
I can proudly say I stand in the 54%. Accepting myself is less work than the alternative. So stand up and be proud. Love yourself as you are and as you are not.
Be. Move. Do.
